Creating multiline displays

Version: 3.5x, 4.x, 5.x - Scientific WorkPlace & Scientific Word

Mathematical displays are not limited to a single line. Each line in a mathematical display can have automatic numbering and a key for cross-references and links. The program automatically aligns each line on the first binary relation in the line, but you can choose a different alignment point. Use multiline displays instead of several single-line displays when you want to align several equations.

  1. From the Math Objects toolbar, click Display button or, from the Insert menu, choose Display.

  2. Type the first equation.

  3. Press Enter to start the next line.

  4. Type the next equation.

  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each line.

  6. When all equations have been entered, press the right arrow to leave the display.
